Ashwini is the first constellation in Indian astronomy. It has three stars. This marks the beginning of Aries and the vernal equinox. Enumeration has been started from about 400 years before Ashwini. In Muhurta astrology, it is called Laghu Kshipra Nakshatra. It is beneficial in definite, precise, gentle, delicate works. This is an auspicious, sattvik male constellation. Its caste is Vaishya, Yoni Horse, Yoni Vaira Mahisha Gana Dev, Nadi etc. It is the lord of the south direction.
